Product Description

Sodium formate (English name Sodium formate; acid sodium salt (also known as sodium formate), the crystal contains two crystal water, so it is also known as sodium dihydrate, sodium dihydrate, sodium dihydrate formateate (Sodiumformatehydrate). Sodium formate is one of the simplest organic carboxylate, white crystal or powder, slightly  acid odor. Slightly deliquable and hygroscopic. Soluble in about 1.3 parts of water and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol, octanol, insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline. When heated, sodium formate breaks down into hydrogen and sodium oxalate, which then forms sodium carbonate. Sodium formate is mainly used in the production of insurance powder, oxalic acid and  acid. In the leather industry, it is used as a camouflage acid in the chromium tannery process, as a catalyst and stabilizing synthetic agent, and as a reducing agent in the printing and dyeing industry. Sodium formate is harmless to the human body and can irritate the eyes, respiratory system and skin. The molecular formula is CHO2Na and the chemical formula is HCOONa, HCOONa·2H2O. 
For the leather industry, the main uses are as follows:

 

(1) Mainly used in the production of acid, oxalic acid and insurance powder, etc., and also used in the production of dimethylformamide. Also used in medicine, printing and dyeing industry. ;

 

(2) Used as reagents, disinfectants and mordants for the determination of phosphorus 

 

(3) Used as a preservative. Use 4: For alkyd resin coating, plasticizer, strong;

 

(4) Used as explosives, acid-resistant materials, aviation lubricating oil, adhesive additives.
